The company has been on the market since 1962. Cox Business Services is a full-service, facilities-based provider of communications solutions for commercial customers, providing high-speed Internet, voice and long distance services, as well as data and video transport services for small to large-sized businesses. Cox Media offers national and local cable advertising in traditional spot and new media formats, along with promotional opportunities and production services.

Cox Cable offers an array of advanced digital video, high-speed Internet and telephony services over its own nationwide IP network, as well as integrated wireless services in partnership with Sprint. In 2006, Cox received highest honor in J.D. Power and Associates' residential cable/satellite TV customer satisfaction study.

Telecommunication is an important part of modern society. In 2006, estimates placed the telecommunication industry's revenue at under 3% of the gross world product. Cable communication services include cable TV, High Speed Internet and Telephone. Cable television is provided via radio frequency signals transmitted to televisions through fixed optical fibers or coaxial cables. Cable telephone services is a form of digital telephony over cable TV networks maintained by installing a special telephone interface that converts the analog signals from the customer's in-home wiring into a digital signal, which is then sent over the cable connection to the company's switching center, where it is connected to the PSTN. Cable Internet access is a form of broadband Internet access that uses the cable television (CATV) infrastructure. Cable Internet access provides network edge connectivity from the Internet service provider to an end user. It is integrated into the cable television infrastructure analogously to DSL which uses the existing telephone network. At the present time, this type of communication connection is being substituted by satellite television, wireless telephone and internet services.
